The winter issue of Umbra reflects the Creative Writing department’s dedication to quality, craft, and thoughtfulness through its curated collection of poetry and prose. Many of the pieces focus on exploring nostalgia and grief through nature. Human relationships such as familial bonds also play a large role in our interrogation of memory throughout this diverse collection of work.
The second episode of our student-led podcast, Unreliable Narrators, is included in this issue. Led by Anya Groner, the Creative Writing Podcasting class recorded an interview with local author, E. M. Tran. We are excited to announce that this project will continue with Season 2 becoming available in the spring.
We would like to introduce Eme Struckhoff, our Art Director. Eme is a Level III student in Visual Art. She created the overall look, the incredibly beautiful website banner, and curated the dynamic artwork matched to each piece of writing. We are grateful for her key contributions to the magazine.
We appreciate your continued support. Enjoy!
Sincerely,
The Umbra Editors
